inspired

Spin, Vaiden’s House, June 2007. This is of my favorite pinholes. I adore this image. I have been working on a Scrabble pinhole series for months and this was the first WOW image that developed. It was a 2 hour game, it also looks better bigger! Recently it was exhibited at Legend City for the Chaos Theory 8 exhibition. I printed it 30×30 and never want to print smaller than that ever again.

Thank you Allison Gee, Art Appraiser Extraordinaire, for the delightful book, Lulu meets God and doubts him by Danielle Ganek.

As I was reading, one of my imaginary lives unfolded on the pages before me! It’s so close to many, many, many of my daydreams. The glamorous world that is the New York City Art Scene! I will be there soon, very soon! I am about to be discovered! The thrill is waiting and seeing how it happens! I do lead an exciting life, only about to be made more exciting by representation by a NYC gallery!!!

I always have this motto “my daydreams come to life”. So I have been rehearsing my first exhibit at the Whitney Museum for years now! I have been planning what I’m going to say to my first dealer. I have been visualizing how I’m going to hang my first exhibit in NYC.

When I lived there (NYC), I went to as many gallery openings as I possibly could. The energy of those nights are unlike anything else! I frequented museums, mostly on the free nights and spent hours perusing the art… staring at the details on photographs, examining the textures of paintings, exploring installations, getting lost in the artists interpretation, using all of my senses to make the art come alive.

I recently found a huge shopping bag filled with postcards and other museum/art gallery literature. I went through that bag and saved the pieces from exhibits that I could still remember by closing my eyes.

Oh Art Gallery Scene in New York City! You are what I imagine heaven to be like. Fancy. Stylish. Smart. Innovative. Wild! High Intellect. Endless Energy.

he knows me

This contemplative pose is one he chooses often. What is he thinking about? Only the aliens know for sure. Portrait taken at a Pumpkin Farm in Gilbert, Arizona. October 2007.

I spent my birthday weekend quite ill and over-dramatizing myself nearing death.

Repeating all years past, I planned a big birthday party for myself but due to being under the weather, had to cancel. I don’t plan parties for presents, quite the opposite, I sent out a frame-able pinhole photograph as my invitation. I wanted all my friends to have a gift from my heart. I even handmade the envelopes using a thrift store treasure – a vintage cookbook.

When I was younger, I always wanted presents, even dropped hints. My older, more sophisticated self, buys myself what I want, when I want it. So, not hinting any clues as to what I desired, I was excited to see what my boyfriend bought me for the celebration of my birth!

First he pampered me with absolutely delicious waffles, bathed in maple syrup and covered with fresh strawberries and whipped cream! Then he presented me with three small packages. Right away I knew two of them were boxes of film! The third gift was a journal. What can I say, after 6 years together, he really knows me! I can’t think of anything better than taking pinhole photographs and writing out my dreams, my fantasies and the occasional bit of reality.

I am currently rich with film! I have 15 rolls of film, calling my name… dancing in my dreams at night, teasing me… dying to know what gorgeous images they will be blessed with. I’m quite certain a few frames will be portraits of him.

beautiful autumn in arizona

I love the light of fall. And the colors! This beautiful pinhole sunburst is from a pumpkin farm in Gilbert, Arizona.

I turned 28 this past weekend. I’ve been looking forward to being 28 forever. When I was younger I put 28 on a pedestal. I imagined my whole life would change when I turned 28. I had my numerology report done about a year ago and even it said “between the ages of 28 and 56 I’ll rule the world”.

Although when I was younger I always imagined that I would be taller, thinner and my wardrobe would come from a 1940′s movie set. I always pictured myself walking around with pencil skirts, gloves and fancy hats! I’ll have to see what I can do about that fantasy.

Yesterday I found out that I’m allergic to soy, peanuts, gluten and sesame (among other things I was already aware of).

Hellooo 28! To a new year of exciting pinhole images, learning to eat with allergies, to ruling the world, and to the mission of finding that perfect classic wardrobe!
