I spent my birthday weekend quite ill and over-dramatizing myself nearing death.
Repeating all years past, I planned a big birthday party for myself but due to being under the weather, had to cancel. I don’t plan parties for presents, quite the opposite, I sent out a frame-able pinhole photograph as my invitation. I wanted all my friends to have a gift from my heart. I even handmade the envelopes using a thrift store treasure – a vintage cookbook.
When I was younger, I always wanted presents, even dropped hints. My older, more sophisticated self, buys myself what I want, when I want it. So, not hinting any clues as to what I desired, I was excited to see what my boyfriend bought me for the celebration of my birth!
First he pampered me with absolutely delicious waffles, bathed in maple syrup and covered with fresh strawberries and whipped cream! Then he presented me with three small packages. Right away I knew two of them were boxes of film! The third gift was a journal. What can I say, after 6 years together, he really knows me! I can’t think of anything better than taking pinhole photographs and writing out my dreams, my fantasies and the occasional bit of reality.
I am currently rich with film! I have 15 rolls of film, calling my name… dancing in my dreams at night, teasing me… dying to know what gorgeous images they will be blessed with. I’m quite certain a few frames will be portraits of him.
Awwww — how sweet. It’s wonderful those moments that we know they really get us…like that.
