HIRE SHEILA! (portraits, weddings, events)

Pinhole photography is romantic, surreal, whimsical, beautiful, unique…

Pinhole photography is a photographic experience, a fanciful interpretation of life. The energy of your soul dances onto film with sunbursts, subtle motion and interesting angles.

Pinhole photography is perfect for couples, weddings, engagement sessions, artistic portraits, pregnant women, contemporary commercial photography, creative fashion photography, family portraits or as a gift.

I am available for world-wide travel. Each portrait session and wedding session includes the complete set of 5×5 proofs, an online album to share with friends and family, and a CD of hi-res scanned negative files of each photograph. Please inquire for pricing.

What is pinhole photography:
Pinhole photography is taken with a lensless, medium format camera that produces a square print with lots of character. Lensless basically means the light travels through the pinhole and directly onto the film. I use a handmade Zero Image teak wood camera. This is NOT digital, I use old fashion film!

Why should we hire you?
I have been doing pinhole photography for over 7 years. It took a few years to learn this delicate art form. I exhibit all over the world and in galleries and museums. I absolutely LOVE pinhole photography.

Who can get a pinhole photography session?
Anyone! Pinhole portraits are a wonderful gift for yourself or a friend. I particularly enjoy doing portraits, weddings and pinholing your pregnancy.

Do you pinhole pets?
No, not normally. If you have a very mellow pet that will hold a pose for a couple of seconds, then your pet could be pinholed. If you have a specific idea in mind and want to experiment, let me know your ideas!

What will happen during our session?
We will meet at the location of your choice and start photographing. Just remember that the exposure will take a few seconds. If it’s sunny the exposure is about 2-5 seconds, if it’s cloudy about 6-12 seconds, and if it’s indoors, it will take at least 20 minutes. If you move while I’m taking the photograph you will be blurry. If you hold still, there will be great detail. Either way is wonderful. I like to do a mixture of motion and stillness.

Can I do my portrait indoors?
Yes. If you have a large window with lots of natural light, a pinhole silhouette is gorgeous. OR if you want to hold a position for more than 15 minutes, we can definitely do them indoors.

Can you do pinholes in the evening?
Yes. Pinholes in the evening take at least 20 minutes, more if there is very little light. Occasionally weddings will be outdoors in the evening. On those nights I make sure to bring extra cameras and am prepared to be doing a lot of standing around and waiting. But the beauty it captures of your evening is wonderful!

How do you know when the picture is finished?
Intuition. I get a feeling and just know… plus I’ve been doing it for a long time. For the first 3 years I took very detailed notes.

Do you have gift certificates?
Yes. Giving pinhole photography as a gift is delightful and thoughtful. It’s definitely a unique gift, one they never received before. I have had clients give this as a baby shower gift, a wedding gift, and as a birthday gift. For weddings, I have had people pool their money together to hire me as additional photographer, so the bride and groom can have a totally different perspective on one of the most magical days of their life!
